2 <p>The Concert and Symphonic bands are currently in rehearsals for their upcoming performances in the Music Performance Assessments.&nbsp; These assessment performances are the new format&nbsp;for District and State assessments of prior years.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p> 2010-03-05T18:37:26Z false true 10 MPA performcances set for March 2010-03-05T18:37:26Z 2 <p>The Florence High School &quot;BIG&nbsp;BLUE&quot; Falcon Marching Band will be performing in the New Year's Day Parade and&nbsp;Festival&nbsp;in London England on January 1, 2010.&nbsp; WAAY&nbsp;TV 31 is sending Barry Hiett, one of the station reporters,&nbsp;with the group to chronicle the&nbsp;week's activities and send reports back to the Shoals each day.&nbsp; The parade kicks off at noon London time (6 a.m. CST) and will be broadcast live on Channel 31 for all to see.&nbsp; Over 200 million people around the world will be watching.&nbsp; We invite you to join in as well.&nbsp; The FHS band will also be part of a 6 band&nbsp;finale that will perform a&nbsp;patriotic tribute to&nbsp;America&nbsp;and England&nbsp;at the base of Big Ben in&nbsp;Parliament Square.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>In addition ot the parade, the band will perfom a concert in St. John's Cathedral at Smith's Square and an outdoor presentation in Trafalgar Square.&nbsp; They will also be touring many of the historic sites in and around London including Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, Bath, Big Ben, and the Houses of Parliament, just to name a few.</p> <p>Follow the FHS&nbsp;Band all&nbsp;week from December 27th through January 3rd on WAAY TV 31&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> 2009-12-19T17:15:18Z false false 2 WAAY TV 31 will be covering the Florence High School Band's performance in the New Year's Day Parade and Festival on January 1, 2010 from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. CST. 2010-03-05T18:31:57Z 1 <h3>Greetings all Band Directors:</h3> <p>The Florence High School Marching Band and the FHS Band Boosters are proud to announce the 1st Annual Renaissance City-Shoals Invitational Marching Band Festival &amp; Competition coming up on Saturday, September 26, 2009, at Braly Stadium in Florence, Alabama. This promises to be one of the premier marching band competitions of the year and we are looking forward to having your group be part of the event. Please see the enclosed material for more details on getting your band registered for the festival. The fee is only $100 if registered by September 1and $125 if registered after September 1.</p> <p>Braly stadium is the location of the NCAA Division II Football National Championship Game each year and provides an excellent venue for this year's competition. Seating capacity is over 14,900 and the video platform in the press box is approximately 150 feet above the marching surface. Each band that performs in the event will receive a complimentary DVD of the overhead shot from the press box. Additionally, a professionally mastered, 3 camera production of each group, and the entire event will be available for purchase. The Florence High School BIG BLUE Falcon Marching Band and the University of North Alabama Pride of Dixie Marching Band will be performing in exhibition with a special Patriotic Tribute that is sure to leave everyone in awe.</p> <p>The commemorative program for the event will feature a group photo of each band and drum major along with a short biography.</p> <p>There will be a full complement of vendors on site providing shirts, photos, and other novelty items for purchase.
